Meet Esme

This is our newest addition, she is a Shih Tzu/Pekingese mix. We have only had her for two weeks but boy does she have a personality! She is a two and a half pound ball of fur that snorts when she's hyper and likes to run around without looking where she is going. Her big sis, Penelope, wasn't thrilled when we first brought her home, but now they are inseparable!! She has been the perfect fit in our little family and we are so excited to introduce her to our family in a week!

Remembering You

Five years ago today my grandmother lost her seven month battle to cancer. I cannot believe that it has been five years without her and for some who may not have known her or remember her, I want this post to give you an insight on the woman she was.

My mom-mom Henrietta was courageous, devoted to her family, and the cook I hope to become one day. She made the very best gooey chocolate chip cookies and would always let you help make them even if you got the egg shell in the batch. She was known for striking up conversations with complete strangers that usually ended with her bragging about her children and grandchildren. My mom-mom could diagnose any illness and could usually tell you how to cure it. Her porch is where we would all go to be together during late hours of the night just to talk. Her home was always filled with her children and grandchildren and that is the way she wanted it. On special evenings at her house she would bring out her milkshake maker and whip up her famous chocolate milkshakes -- this was always a winner with the grandkids! Even though my mom-mom never attended beauty school I would always go to her to pluck my eyebrows (seriously, this woman could do anything!) because she could pluck them perfect every time! There are many traits that I could take from her but one that sticks out the most was her will to give. She was always giving and never expected to get anything in return. She always put her family before her self and that is what truly made her happy. I am so thankful to have had such a close relationship with my mom-mom and often look back on all those good times together. I have wished so many times in the past five years that she could be here to take part in the many milestones in my life but I know she wouldn't trade where she is for nothing. In Christ I know that there are no goodbyes and I am so thankful for the fact that I will see her again.
