Little Hoot

Check out my present from my in-laws, they did great this year! This adorable plate set is designed by Rachael Ray.

The story goes like this: Rachael Ray was always a night owl growing up and her grandfather gave her the nickname Little Hoot. She decided to make a special plate set that reminded her of him. I love this set and can't wait to have people over to eat!

Last weekend we took a long weekend and visited Nashville. We love experiencing new cities and decided that would be our Christmas present to each other this year.

Joseph LOVES Dave Ramsey and he is located in Brentwood TN, which is only 10 minutes outside of Nashville, so that was our 1st stop. Luckily, Dave was filming his radio show that day and came out during a break to meet everyone in the lobby.

Our next stop was Broadway Street in downtown Nashville.
It was a neat experience to walk down Broadway and hear all the live acts playing as we passed each restaurant and bar.

Beautiful tree!

Later that night we ventured back to Brentwood and also Franklin TN to ride around and look at the Christmas lights.

The light show was unreal and so tastefully done.

The next day we walked around Downtown Nashville and Centennial Park:

I'm not really a country music person (besides Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood of course) but we had to visit the Country Music Hall of Fame while we were there:

We ended Saturday night with the Nutcracker! I was in love, Joe not so much :P

The 3rd day of our mini vacation we decided to drive halfway home so we stopped in Gatlinburg. We took a tram half way up a mountain to get a good view.

We then got on a ski lift to take us up higher. . .

And then took this slide back down to the bottom. Joe was filming the moment haha

Gatlinburg had great decorations for Christmas too!

And yes, I tried Moonshine. I couldn't leave Tennessee without trying some! :)

We had a great time exploring downtown Nashville. I'm sure it's awesome to visit any other time of the year but there was something about visiting at Christmas time that made everything seem magical.

Spray Paint + Pellegrino

This bottle was too pretty not to do something with. . .

Used a razor blade to take off the label

Almost done. . .

Used some white spray paint.

And voila! Added some fresh spruce from our tree and a red ribbon and she's ready for my Christmas mantel!

A quick project that I can use year round. Plus it only cost me $1.50 and that was for the Pellegrino!

It's Christmas Time Again

This year we bought our 1st live Christmas tree! I was a little nervous because if you know my husband, the tree had to be perfect. So we ventured out after work and stopped at Dave's Christmas Trees (we didn't go to a tree farm, maybe next year!). We narrowed it down to two trees (Joe approved!) and then it started to rain. So we made our decision quick, loaded the tree in the truck, and headed to Walmart to pick up extra lights. When we got home and plugged in the lights, half were out. So we put the tree up anyway and postponed the decorating until the next evening.

We were more successful with lights the next evening and here is our decorated tree!

Two of my favorite ornaments:
"New Home"

This nutcracker was my MomMom Henrietta's. It hung on her tree every year and love that it will now hang on ours for years to come!

The pups stocking already filled with yummy treats

The fireplace
(I would still like to find some greenery to hang over the mantel!)

And of course you have to have candy canes!

I just love how a tree makes everything so cozy!

We kept outside pretty simple and just decorated the 3 trees in our front yard
(plus we don't have a ladder! :)

Merry Christmas everyone and happy decorating!

Felt Garland

This felt garland was super cheap and easy to make. I spent less than $4 on everything. I saw something at Target for way more and just knew I could make something similar. All you need is green and red felt balls, some natural colored yarn, and a tool to thread the yarn.

I looked at our mantel to get an idea of how long the garland needed to be and then started threading the yarn through each felt ball. . .

And that's it!

And here it is hanging on our mantel:

What are you crafting this Christmas?
