Perks of a Wedding Planner

Below is one of the perks of my job as a wedding planner -- taking flowers home. I was really lucky last night because the bride had peonies in her centerpieces and they are my favorite flower! She also had a light pink peony bouquet -- I was in love!

Another perk is getting to eat the delicious food made by Father's Table Catering and eating a slice of cake from all our yummy cake designers. Wedding season has kicked in and this weekend we have three weddings at West Manor -- tomorrow is the biggest one of the year with 250 guests!

Before I end this post I wanted to show you what I found when I was weeding just the other day.

Our very OWN peonies :) Why would someone plant these on the side of the house where they are hidden!?

Another wall complete!

I tend to struggle when it comes to decorating my living room walls. I can't take it lightly because that's the main room people will see when coming to our home! So I combined my love of monograms, plates, and our furry kids and I really like how it turned out! I played around with the placement before hanging and liked this arrangement the best.

Soooo this is our entertainment stand....turned into a bench (minus the cushion, I haven't found one I like!). I'll get there!
But here is a full view of the wall. I like the fact that I can add more pictures and plates to it down the line.

OH! I finally got that second striped pillow for our sofa -- originally I had just 1 but like 2 way better!

Anddd I had to post this pic because of my cute pup :)

Esme's 1st Birthday

Each year for my pup's birthdays I make them doggie cupcakes -- they are a huge hit and it's a special treat. Check out the recipe below and enjoy the pictures of Esme's 1st birthday.

Esme rocking her cupcake shirt.

Doggie Cupcakes:
  • 1/2 cup of flower
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 6 oz. can of wet dog food (I used Cesar's grilled chicken)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • splash of oil
  • Icing (optional)
Mix together flower and baking powder:

Then add one egg, wet dog food, and just a tiny bit of oil:

Add milk until it reaches consistency:

It should look like this:

Put them in a greased muffin tin and bake at 350 degrees and bake for 15 mins.

So try em' for yourself, your pup will love you!

Yes, we are those people.

I altered the original recipe and this batch makes 5 cupcakes. I also had two left over for treats the next day!

A Year Ago. . .

I can't believe I have been graduated for a year! Wow, time really flies by! With the class of 2011 graduating this morning, the feeling of that day comes back. The greatest feeling was that I was done...4 whole years...D O N E! Such an accomplishment but a scary thought to actually be in the real world. The weirdness of not going to class every day, seeing familiar faces and my favorite professors. Not being consumed by projects, speeches, and exams and actually having extra time on my hands.

Enjoy the pics below that capture the day in a nutshell:

Good Ole' DeMoss -- I had the majority of my classes in this building.

Me & my bestie Alison -- she left me for Hotlanta :(

<3 him -- he was SO supportive my whole college career!

So thankful that my parents, brother, grandparents, and aunts could make the 7 hour drive (& a boat ride) out!

This time last year I didn't know that I would be a wedding planner at one of the most beautiful venues in Virginia, welcome another pup into our family, go to my 1st real concert {Lady Gaga}, visit two amazing cities, and buy our 1st home.

Happy Birthday Bro

*Happy Birthday Jonathon!*

This was 14 years ago today {admit it, your diggin' my Pooh shirt!}! The look on my face says it all! After all, I was the baby for 9 years!

And no, in case your wondering I can't hold him like that anymore. I think our roles have been reversed!

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's out there. I know I am blessed to have such an amazing mom but it's something about this day that makes me stop and think how truly blessed I really am. My mom has always been there for me, I can tell her anything and she listens. My mom is a hard worker and taught me to work hard for what I want. My mom works full time and still comes home and has dinner on the table every night. She is a major worry wart, which can sometimes pluck my last never but I know it's cause she loves me. My relationship with her is one that I hope to have with my child one day. Happy Mother's Day Mom, I love you!

Our Home

Living Room:

We got a lot of our accessories from Target's white and blue line. The color is in the gold family but it can sorta look yellow or a light tan depending how the light hits it.

{curtains, lamp, & accent pillows all from Target}

Mantle Accessories:

{Owl: Pier 1}
{Book: yard sale find}
{Wreath: made by me}

{Candles: Target}
{Birds: Michael's}

{Color: Tomato Bisque}
{Plates: Pier 1}
{Curtains: Target}

{When trying to decide on the perfect color we tried two samples: tomato bisque and crab bisque. We decided that the majority of the kitchen would be the tomato but went with the crab bisque above the sink}

Picture frame turned into a chalkboard memo board for our kitchen:

I purchased this dog bone at TJ Maxx and it was originally a cutting board. I knew it would be perfect if I covered it in chalkboard paint and then I could use it above their food/water area. I drilled holes in the top and used ribbon to hang it. I love it! See the whole process here.

Guest Bedroom:

Our guest room is our 'Tangier' themed room. Eventually we will get white furniture or paint this set white.

The Office:

Super cheap pencil holders. Tin cans covered in paper from A.C. Moore:

Other side of the office
{color: green grapes}

I still need to finish our bedroom, doesn't lack much. Stay tuned!

So it's been 5 years since I've been to prom and I must say, I had fun getting to experience a taste of it again. Naturally, prom is so much fun if your a girl, but I did have fun helping my brother get ready for his big night. I did learn that it is SO different for a guy getting ready. Jonathon hopped in the shower, shaved up, moisturized (I made him do this :), brushed his teeth, fluffed his hair a little, and then put his suit on and he was ready to go! I wanted to pluck a few stray eyebrows but he wouldn't let me, I admit I was getting a little carried away. So here are a few favorites of the night:

Georgianna rocked this LBD and I am jealous of her long legs

Family Shots:

My little brother is growing up whether I'm ready or not.
