Our Weekend in Pictures {Fall Festivities}

This past weekend my parents came into town for a long weekend. We did a lot of fun fall activities. 1st stop Charlottesville for apple picking.

Carter Mountain Orchard was beautiful and full of apples.

A family picture in the orchard.

Me and Joe

Dad and Mom

Jonathon, hahaha

They are known for their apple cider donuts. Soooo good!

On Saturday we drove to Williamsburg to go to Busch Gardens. The main reason for going was to attend Howl-o-Scream but we also enjoyed the rides. It was the first time for a lot of us, we had a good time.

Dad enjoyed his time there too haha

Joe and I riding the Skyride

Howl-o-Scream was from 6-10pm, that's when the Haunted Houses started as well as scary zombies walking around the park with chain saws. It was freaky but so much fun.

On Sunday we had what I called a Busch Gardens hangover, so it called for a good hearty breakfast. This pumpkin butter was amazing, we picked up a jar at Carter Mountain.

It was a great visit with my parents and jam packed. I definitely need another day to recoup haha.

Swifties

I'm really not a huge concert-goer. Don't get me wrong I love them, but it costs money. This year the two concerts I went to just happened to be less than a week apart. This concert = Taylor Swift and it was only an hour away to Charlottesville.

Saturday my friend Kristin and I had dinner at The Whiskey Jar and it was amazingggg. My mom asked, do they have food there? Yes mom, they do. Haha

Pulled pork on texas toast. Done!

On our way to JPJ Arena!

And there she is!

She changed outfits 11 times!

This was my 2nd time seeing Taylor and she was awesome again, such a great entertainer too!
Plus it was a great girl's night.

Never Forget

We all remember where we were. I was in the 8th grade; computer class was coming up and we were all itching for that period to come so we could look at all the information coming in. That day was a blur.

Even though I didn't personally know someone, my heart still aches. It aches to think of how many lives were lost that day. It aches for the thousands of men, women, and children who lost loved ones that day. It aches for America. It aches to think we are still at war today.

But then I have a feeling of great pride. Pride for my country. Pride when everyone came together and everyone was family. Pride thinking of the men and women who risk it all every day, so we can be the land of the free and home of the brave. Pride in being an American.

Virginia Beach Weekend

This past weekend was for the books. Saturday I spent the day in Chesapeake with my bestie Whitney. We have been friends since the womb (literally), our moms would go to doctor appointments together. We were destined to be friends!

On Sunday I headed to Virginia Beach to meet my mom, aunts, and friends because we all had tickets to the Honda Civic Tour which featured Kelly Clarkson and Maroon 5 was headlining. Two words -- Maroon 5. That's all I had to hear!

We all stayed at a hotel on the beach, this was the view.

Adam's biggest fan. And I'm dead serious about that.

Before the concert we had dinner at the Melting Pot. It was their 1st time and everybody had so much fun.

Me and Mom waiting for the concert to start.

Kelly Clarkson rocked it! Beautiful girl and beautiful voice.

Oh and then there was Adam....

My two aunts upgraded their tickets to the pit section, they were literally 10 feet away from him. Sadly, they only had 2 spots left, so me and mom didn't get so lucky. But we still had amazing seats and had an awesome time!! We sang our hearts out and danced to every song.

Oh, there goes the shirt...
Oh hey there...

The next day...still gaga from the night before.

We rented these bikes. You could probably hear us laughing a mile away.

King Neptune -- like our shirts?! haha

Part of the group...

It was seriously one of the best weekends of my life. I know that sounds so dramatic, but it's true. I loved having a girls weekend and spending time with my mom and aunts. They are the best.

Taco Tuesday

It's our favorite night of the week! Here are the details:

We always use chicken and homemade taco seasoning. The seasoning consists of 1 tablespoon of garlic powder, chili powder, and ground cumin. To make a bigger batch, just double it. Sprinkle seasoning all over chicken and then grill. Once grilled, let the chicken set for 5-10 minutes, and then slice into thin strips.

From there prepare your toppings. Our favorite toppings are: thinly shredded cheese, salsa, avocado, and lettuce. Joe also loves adding Mexican rice to his and its really simple to make (add Knorr tomato bouillon to boiling water and then add rice). Pile all that goodness on a slightly warm tortilla wrap and you have a fresh, delicious dinner. It seriously is our favorite night of the week!
Enjoy!

Labor Day Fun

For Labor Day we spent the afternoon in Charlottesville with our friends. The day consisted of trying to find good donuts (both recommended places were closed, FAIL), eating an amazing burger (WIN!), and shopping at places we don't have in the Burg (i.e. Urban O. & Anthropologie = obsessed).

On the way back to the Burg we stopped at Bold Rock Cidery. Something you may not know about me but if you hang around me long enough you'll be quick to find out I LOVE hard cider. This local cidery just happens to be my favorite and now that I know all about their business, I love it even more.

Taking a tour of the cidery...

There are a lot of wineries and cideries in our area and I can't wait to visit more!
