Nursery Mood Board

Time is flying by and nursery plans are underway. I created a mood board because 1. I’m a visual person and I like to see it in front of me and 2. If everything goes accordingly with our home inspection next week, we will be closing at the end of June and I don’t want to forget all the details that are buzzing around in my head. So here are the plans:

1. Edgecomb Gray by Benjamin Moore – this will be the wall color. It’s a very light gray (lighter than the swatch above) and will go with everything.
2. Shades of pinks and purples will be the occurring theme of the room.
3. Gold will be the accent color.
4. Jenny Lind Crib – my parents have been generous enough to give us the crib and mattress as our gift. It arrived yesterday and of course I had to sneak a peek. Obsessed.
5. Pom-Pom Curtains – these curtains give a whimsical vibe and I love it. Yes, I know they are sheer but I plan to add a bamboo blind to block out sunlight.
6. Pink and Purple Tassel Garland – another whimsical element to the nursery and it’s already ordered!
7. Accent Pillows – I’m loving these two specifically: they are from Land of Nod and Etsy.
8. White Fur Rug – the nursery has wood floors, so this is a perfect addition.
9. Glider – every nursery needs a nice glider (or so I’m told) and I’ve heard great things about this one.
10. Fun Stuffed Animals – They are from Smitten for the Wee Generation and Pier 1.
11. Glass Canister – I’m obsessed with these canisters, they are all over my kitchen. One will be perfect to hold headbands and hair bows.
12. ‘World Changer’ Print - designed by my talented friend Kathleen from Leen Jean Studios.
13. Woven Basket – perfect for holding blankets and stuffed animals.
14. Wire Baskets – for the changing table to hold all the necessities.

I can't wait to see all of this put together!

Memorial Day Weekend Recap

This weekend was full of fun activities and it was so refreshing. I know this weekend isn't just about a three day weekend, lots of sun, and cookouts. It's a time to reflect on those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. This makes me realize how blessed I am to live in the United States of America and I get to enjoy things like cookouts, the lake, and spending too many hours out in the sun. Because we are free we get to enjoy all the precious moments of life, we get to wake up every morning without worrying about our safety, and for that I am extremely grateful.

On Saturday morning I went with my friend Kristin to the Vintage Lynchburg Spring Market. This is an event where all local creatives come together to sell their amazing crafts, jewelry, food, and home decor. It's like Etsy but local. This event always makes me realize how much talent is in Lynchburg!

After a little shopping, Joe and I went Strawberry picking at Yoders' Farm. I've had strawberry cobbler on my mind :)

Sunday consisted of church, a day at Ivy Lake, and then a cookout with friends.

Joe made a delicious breakfast Monday morning and I worked on the presentation of our pancakes, haha.

Followed by a lot of beach volleyball and another cookout.

So here's to the Summer of 2014. It's my favorite time of year!!

24 Weeks

How far along: 24 weeks
Gender: A girl!
Weight Gain: 12 lbs.
Maternity clothes: This weekend I bought 2 pairs of shorts and two dresses. My stock of maternity clothes is growing! Also for you mommas -- the Cartwheel app has 20% off all maternity clothes at Target, it saved me $20!
Stretch marks: No.
Belly button in or out: In.
Sleep: Still good.
Best moment of the week: Baby girl had hiccups for the 1st time! At first I didn't realize what was going on. Joe got to feel them too! We also purchased her some summer attire for next year, due to Old Navy having a nice sale. I love holiday sales. Also we finally found a house!!! We put in an offer and they accepted with 0 counters. Next is the inspection!
Miss anything: A nice frozen margarita -- I blame the heat.
Movement: Yes, all the time.
Cravings: Nothing.
Queasy or sick: Feeling great!
Looking forward to: All the fun that comes with summer.

23 Weeks

How far along: 23 weeks
Gender: A girl!
Weight Gain: 12 lbs.
Maternity clothes: A few items.
Stretch marks: No.
Belly button in or out: In.
Sleep: Still good but needing a pillow for my belly, haha.
Best moment of the week: Seeing my family even though it wasn't on such a good note. My great-grandmother Virginia passed away, so we traveled home for her funeral. Baby girl is her 5th generation.
Miss anything: I want to eat a donut without feeling guilty. So I rarely eat unhealthy things because of feeling so guilty. The struggle.
Movement: Yes, all the time. I swear she's going to come into the world doing back flips.
Cravings: I swear I'm the only pregnant person who can't decided on what I want to eat because nothing really appeals to me. And it's not because I'm craving everything, it's because I really don't know what I want to eat. Again, the struggle.
Queasy or sick: Feeling great!
Looking forward to: A 3 day weekend filled with shopping, strawberry picking, and sun!

This was from our trip home. Gotta get that salt water running through her veins early ;)

22 Weeks

(I'm a week late on this one but here goes....)

How far along: 22 weeks
Gender: A girl!
Weight Gain: 10 lbs.
Maternity clothes: Thank God for maxi dresses.
Stretch marks: No.
Belly button in or out: In.
Sleep: Still good but needing a pillow for my belly, haha.
Best moment of the week: This is a funny story...I was dreaming that I had to pee, so in my dream I was getting out of the bed. Well apparently I was really getting out of bed (while sleeping) and somehow fell directly on my butt and hit my foot on the way down. So it was bruised for days. I have no idea how this happened or how I managed to land on my butt. Another great moment: we created our baby registry on Mother's Day, how fitting.
Miss anything: The ability to fit in my shorts, haha.
Movement: Yes, all the time.
Cravings: Still fresh foods but I really don't have a lot of cravings. I take forever to decide on where to eat because I don't know what I want.
Queasy or sick: Feeling great!
Looking forward to: My classmate Logan's wedding.

We are registered at Target and Babies'r'Us.

Celebrations Galore!

On Saturday we celebrated Sreedevi's graduation from Liberty. I can't believe how fast four years has went and I'm SO proud of her. We spotted her walking in with the masses.

Over 17,000 graduates.

We had a quick photo shoot around campus...

Family shots...

It was so nice having family in town even if it was a short weekend visit.
Congratulations Sreedevi!

Gender Reveal Party

When it was time to find out the gender of our baby we knew we didn't want to find out in the doctor's office (even though it was SO tempting!). We wanted a party at our house with our closest friends and family (via FaceTime). The weeks leading up to the appointment was filled with party planning and excitement. And honestly, it couldn't have been any better.

My faithful chalkboard broke the day before the party (I know, how does that happen). So I frantically rushed to Goodwill to find a cheap frame, spray painted the edges white, and applied chalkboard paint. It turned out great and was only $4.50.  Another budget friendly item: the flowers. They were a manager's special at Kroger for $4.99.

Our theme was bows and mustaches. I bought paper straws and pink and blue card stock from A.C. Moore. Super simple project and total cost was under $4.

This was a last minute project as well. I bought a $2 frame at Walmart and applied chalkboard paint. It was perfect for our boy/girl tally.

And lastly, I purchased blue and pink pacifiers necklaces from Amazon. This was actually my 1st purchase for the party and was a fun addition.

And we can't forget about the cake. Joseph's co-worker baked it for us and she did a great job. It looked amazing and tasted just as good!

I was so shocked to see the pink cake, I wish I had a piece to eat now! ha

It was so exciting finding out this way and I highly recommend it if you are expecting.
Life is precious, celebrate every moment!

It's a...

GIRL!!!!

Honestly I feel like I'm still getting over the shock. I was for sure a boy and was already saying "he". But with that said, we are ecstatic for a sweet baby girl. I'll leave you with a video of my reaction :)

More details on the actual party to come!

21 Weeks

How far along: 21 weeks
Gender: We finally find out this week!!!
Weight Gain: 9 lbs.
Maternity clothes: Normal clothes. Just lots of maxi skirts and dresses, comfort is the name of the game these days.
Stretch marks: No.
Belly button in or out: In.
Sleep: Still good. I usually wake up one time and it's always right before my alarm. Frustrating.
Best moment of the week: Definitely finding out boy or girl! It will make it so real.
Miss anything: Nothing really significant this week. I did see a picture of a watermelon margarita and I may have drooled a little.
Movement: Yes, all the time.
Cravings: Still fresh foods, especially fruits. And fruit snacks.
Queasy or sick: Feeling great!
Looking forward to: Buying baby clothes!

THE ultrasound is Monday at 9 a.m. but we won't find out until our Gender Reveal Party at 6:30. All the little DIY projects are done and we can't wait to share pictures of the special evening. The theme is bows and mustaches and of course tons of blue and pink. My vote is BOY and Joseph's vote is GIRL. But honestly we could care less which it is. We are so excited to pick out a name, colors for the nursery, and most of all creating his/her little wardrobe.

Stay tuned....
