26 years...young

My birthday is my favorite holiday, haha. So yesterday was a good day. I used birthday money to get these fabulous West Elm curtains. We haven't had real curtains in our bedroom, ever, so I love that it's finally getting attention. Now I'm on the hunt for a 2nd nightstand because we actually have the space to fit a 2nd nightstand.

And yes, our dogs do occasionally sleep in the bed with us. Oops.

I came to work and even Google knew it was my birthday:

My sister in law made me a cake :) I had no idea, so it was a great surprise to come home to!

After dinner out, we ended the night on our patio with a movie. It felt like a fall night!

Below is 26 things about me. A blog that I follow did this on their 28th birthday and I loved it! So enjoy 26 things about me:
  • I fell out of a tree and broke my wrist when I was 6.
  • I was an only child for almost 9 years.
  • I graduated high school on June 12th 2006 and got married on June 24th 2006.
  • I’m a very neat person. I like everything to be clean. Put nesting on top of this, yeaaaa.
  • If I start a project I have to finish it in the same day or it kills me.
  • I always pour a little bit of milk in with my mug of ice cream.
  • The thought of cutting my hair short terrifies me.
  • Bedtime is one of my favorite parts of the day.
  • I don’t like to cook but I love to bake.
  • My morning makeup routine consists of 4 things: BB cream, eyeliner, mascara, and a little bit of eye shadow. It takes me 15 minutes to get ready.
  • Give me pretty flowers any day of the week and I’m a happy girl.
  • Decorating our home and finding the perfect decor is a passion.
  • I never knew my love for all things wedding existed until after I graduated college and actually got a job doing that.
  • I love to entertain.
  • I wish I loved tomatoes but I don’t.
  • Maroon 5 is my absolute favorite and sometimes I pretend Adam’s singing to me. Joseph knows this, haha.
  • Summer is my favorite season – July is my favorite month!
  • I love to travel to new places.
  • I am not a morning person.
  • Since becoming pregnant I prefer iced coffee over hot.
  • My family comes from two very small Islands in the Chesapeake Bay: Tangier, VA and Smith Island, MD.
  • If Target was the only store that existed I would be perfectly okay with that.
  • I started dating the hubs when I was 13, don’t tell Harlow that.
  • My biggest pet peeve = feet draggers. Pick up your feet!
  • The beach is my favorite place; it’s very calming to me.
  • I crack my knuckles a lot.
Cheers to 26!

1st Home Update

We are loving having a garage but sadly it looked plain. Thanks to Pinterest I found a simple tutorial on how to jazz it up! We purchased this garage door hardware kit from The Home Depot for $18.98 and Joe installed it.

And voila! Can't beat a simple update for less than $20!

Secondly, we have a great patio area and we love spending evenings outside. When we began the house hunt again we had several non-negotiables. One of them was finding a home with a great outdoor space. The yard didn't have to be huge, but we wanted an inviting deck or patio because we love entertaining outside. If you remember, we had these lights on our old house and it was one of my favorites parts about the deck. It makes outside sitting so much more enjoyable.

Stay tuned for more house updates...the nursery and master bedroom tour coming soon!

Baby Shower No. 2

Three of my friends at work threw me the cutest baby shower. It was great to spend time with each other outside of work.

How cute are the nail polish favors.

And the cutest decor....

The spread.

Before gifts we had to play a game. The ladies had to draw what Harlow will look like based on a picture of Joseph and I.

It was hilarious. I picked the top left as the winner.

And the gifts, so fun!

Thank you to everyone who came and made a dish!

Wish us luck as we attempt to conquer the nursery this weekend!

Typically when we go on vacation we road trip somewhere and we are constantly on the go trying to see every exciting thing about that city. With being over 30 weeks pregnant I knew I couldn't do that this year, so we opted for the beach and it was fabulous. We started off our babymoon in Virginia Beach and stayed in a hotel right on the boardwalk. We got a few good hours in at the beach before a storm hit.

Classic King Neptune shot.

31 weeks...

It was a  down pour for the rest of the night but we enjoyed an awesome dinner at Waterman's.

Bacon wrapped scallops and she crab soup...to die!

On Thursday we headed for OBX and again ran into storms.

But the sun finally came out at the Cape Hatteras Light!

Beautiful beach near the Light.

This was the most relaxing vacation we've ever had, it was perfect!

Now the countdown begins to when Miss Harlow arrives. It's less than 2 months away!

Baby Shower

This past weekend we had our 1st baby shower and it was perfect. Everything I envisioned came to reality. Because of Hurricane Arthur we changed the shower day (last minute decision) and it all came together thanks to my mom, my two aunts, and Joe. The great thing about Tangier is the community comes together to help out. To everyone who made a dish and showered us with a gift, thank you! Our little girl is so loved.

Pom-Poms || Tablecloth: Party City

Studio Mucci Tassel Garland || Balloons: Party City

The Candy bar -- one of my favorite parts of the shower!

Cake by the Corner Bakery in Onancock

A family friend made the adorable mama and baby bird sugar cookies.

The guests...

I was just a little excited about these outfits!

The loot! Such a blessing!!

Again, a huge thanks from Joseph and I for a wonderful shower. It was so exciting to get home and start placing and hanging clothes!

4th of July

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July! Or in our case, 5th of July. Hurricane Arthur caused wind on the 4th so everyone decided to celebrate a day late and it was a gorgeous! We are huge 4th of July-ers, so it was totally worth it.

Side-note: I can't believe it was our last childless 4th.

My mom is always busy as a bee the morning of, she makes the best spread.

It's a Tangier tradition to take your boat, anchor out, eat, and enjoy a relaxing evening.

Tangier has the best sunsets.

I missed waking up to this today...

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
